Family Team Decision-Making (FTDM) and Youth Transition Decision-Making (YTDM) Fundamentals

DESCRIPTION:  The purpose of this training is to ensure participants understand the philosophy of the Family Team Decision-Making (FTDM) and Youth Transition Decision-Making (YTDM) meeting process and how the philosophy aligns with adopted guiding principles.  In addition, participants will understand what a successful FTDM and YTDM meeting should look and what the child welfare services worker role is within the FTDM and YTDM meetings. 

NOTE:  This training focuses on attendance to FTDM and YTDM meetings, not the facilitation of such meetings.

Registration will begin at 8:30 AM. Training will start promptly at 9:00 AM. Lunch is on your own.

Please note: Priority seating is provided to staff working within one of the DHS child welfare contracts, including: Community Care; Group Foster Care; Family Safety, Risk, and Permanency (FSRP); Child Welfare Emergency Services (CWES): Aftercare Services; Supervised Apartment Living (SAL); Recruitment, Retention, Training and Support Services (RRTS); Parent Partners; Foster Care Youth Council.

If you do not work within one of the child welfare contracts with the State, you may be bumped from the course and placed on a wait list.


At each training, participants will receive a certificate of attendance. The certificate will include Course Title, Trainer Name, Date, Location and Number of Hours. (NOTE: hours attended will be adjusted if a participant is not present for the entire session). It is the responsibility of the individual to be familiar with the CEU requirements of your professional license board. Licensees should retain course materials and certificates for four years for auditing purposes.
