Understanding Trauma: Level 3 - Family Home Training

Description: Given what has been learned in Levels 1 and 2, this training will focus on how to execute trauma informed care with children placed in family home settings, including family foster care families working towards reunification. The course will cover topics, such as, the logistics of working with children in a family home environment, how to best prepare, how to alleviate and respond to stressors in the family home environment, and how to identify and guide expectations. Participants will engage in practical activities from a foundation of understanding the scientific and sociological processes that facilitate pro-social connection and guidance to build resilience.

Registration will begin at 8:30 AM. Training will start promptly at 9:00 AM. Lunch is on your own.

Please note: Priority seating is provided to staff working within one of the DHS child welfare contracts, including: Community Care; Group Foster Care; Family Safety, Risk, and Permanency (FSRP); Child Welfare Emergency Services (CWES): Aftercare Services; Supervised Apartment Living (SAL); Recruitment, Retention, Training and Support Services (RRTS); Parent Partners; Foster Care Youth Council. If you do not work within one of the child welfare contracts with the State, you may be bumped from the course and placed on a wait list.
