Introduction for Working with Autism Spectrum Disorder

This training opportunity will assist participants in better understanding Autism Spectrum Disorders and their related challenges. Participants can expect to learn about the history of the diagnosis, common issues and challenges associated with the diagnosis, as well learn best practices when working with individuals diagnoses with Autism. Participants will also learn about current, evidence-based treatments and interventions.

 Trainers:
Blake Stephenson
Blake Stephenson is a Licensed Independent Social Worker and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and has specialization in working with children and adolescents who have developmental and intellectual disabilities. Blake has advanced training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Organizational Behavior Management (OBM), and in assessing autism through the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS).

Registration will begin at 12:30pm. Training will begin promptly at 1pm. This training is scheduled until 3pm.

 

Please note: Priority seating is provided to staff working within one of the current DHS child welfare service contracts, including: Family Centered Services (FCS); Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP) / Group Foster Care; Child Welfare Emergency Services (CWES): Aftercare Services; Supervised Apartment Living (SAL); Recruitment, Retention, Training and Support Services (RRTS); Parent Partners; Foster Care Youth Council. If you do not work within one of the current DHS child welfare services contract, you may be bumped from the course and placed on a wait list.
