Structured Decision Making Overview Training (Virtual)

The Iowa Department of Human Services worked with Evident Change to develop a Structured Decision Making (SDM ®) model to complete safety assessments. The SDM is research- and evidence-based to support the intentionality of decisions when assessing for safety. Participants will learn more about the SDM safety assessment in practice and the assessment role to support safety planning. 

Trainer: Billy Claywell - Billy W.Claywell, LMSW has been in the human service field since 1988. He has worked as an in-home service provider, supervisor of a family preservation project, administrator of a family and children’s program, grant writer, and is currently the Clinical Director for Corinthian House and provides therapy for their residents.

Registration will open at 8:30 am. Training will begin promptly at 9:00 am and is scheduled to end at 12:00 pm.

Please note: Priority seating is provided to staff working within one of the current DHS child welfare service contracts, including: Family Centered Services (FCS); Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP) / Group Foster Care; Child Welfare Emergency Services (CWES): Aftercare Services; Supervised Apartment Living (SAL); Recruitment, Retention, Training and Support Services (RRTS); Parent Partners; Foster Care Youth Council. If you do not work within one of the current DHS child welfare services contract, you may be bumped from the course and placed on a wait list.
