Understanding Trauma: Level 2-Self Care Location Info: AEA Great Prairie-Conference Room B2814 N. Court StreetOttumwa, IA 52501In Level 1 – Foundations of Trauma, participants discuss: (1) the broad spectrum of major contributors to a child’s behavior, (2) the hierarchy of needs, (3) short/long term reasonable outcomes, (4) lifespan consequences of trauma on an individual/community and (5) staff’s role as protectors and educators. Participants learn how to engage in and explore concrete processes to stabilize attachment, develop safe relationships and effective emotional management. Trainer will be Billy Claywell Registration opens at 8:30 AM. Please note: Priority seating is provided to staff working within one of the DHS child welfare contracts, including: Community Care; Group Foster Care; Family Safety, Risk, and Permanency (FSRP); Child Welfare Emergency Services (CWES): Aftercare Services; Supervised Apartment Living (SAL); Recruitment and Retention of Resources families (RRTS); Parent Partners; Foster Care Youth Council. If you do not work within one of the child welfare contracts with the State, you may be bumped from the course and placed on a wait list.
