Domestic Violence Intermediate Description: This 3 hour session will build on the Fundamental course material by exploring how to screen for domestic violence and effectively engage both adult survivors of abuse and their perpetrators while working towards child safety and well being. Learners will be given tools to help them partner with survivors and engage perpetrators in a change effort, as well as receive introduction to a variety of strategies for planning for child safety and evaluating effective change. Participants will also explore how they can explain the services they provide to survivors of domestic violence and engage in appropriate referral to local domestic violence service agencies. Registration will begin at 12:30 PM. Training will start promptly at 1:00 PM. There will be a Domestic Violence Fundamentals course offered from 9:00 am-12:00 pm. If you wish to partake in both courses, you must register for each one separately.
Please note: Priority seating is provided to staff working within one of the DHS child welfare contracts, including: Community Care; Group Foster Care; Family Safety, Risk, and Permanency (FSRP); Child Welfare Emergency Services (CWES): Aftercare Services; Supervised Apartment Living (SAL); Recruitment, Retention, Training and Support Services (RRTS); Parent Partners; Foster Care Youth Council. If you do not work within one of the child welfare contracts with the State, you may be bumped from the course and placed on a wait list.
