Documentation is a core responsibility of every worker to ensure that the safety of children is appropriately addressed and effectively documented throughout the life of a case. Appropriate documentation will identify and describe information in an accurate, complete, and professional manner. This course will share the importance of documentation; identify tools to accurately reflect behavior observations in a succinct manner; and help create the understanding for the use of documentation to represent the interventions and outcomes within the life of a case.

TRAINERS:

Judge Mary Tabor - Judge Tabor, Des Moines, was appointed to the Court of Appeals in 2010.  She was born in Maquoketa and raised on her family's farm in Jackson County.  She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa in 1985.  She graduated from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1991. Judge Tabor worked as a staff attorney in the Office of General Counsel for the Federal Election Commission in Washington, D.C. from 1991 to 1993.  She joined the Iowa Attorney General's office in 1993 and served as director of the Criminal Appeals Division from 1999 to 2010. Judge Tabor is a member of the Iowa State Bar Association and the Blackstone Inn of Court.  

 Registration will begin at 9:30AM. Training will begin promptly at 10AM. This training is scheduled until 11AM.

Please note: Priority seating is provided to staff working within one of the current DHS child welfare service contracts, including: Family Centered Services (FCS); Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP) / Group Foster Care; Child Welfare Emergency Services (CWES): Aftercare Services; Supervised Apartment Living (SAL); Recruitment, Retention, Training and Support Services (RRTS); Parent Partners; Foster Care Youth Council. If you do not work within one of the current DHS child welfare services contract, you may be bumped from the course and placed on a wait list.
