Friday, October 01, 2021, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM CDT
Category: Training

Integrating Adolescent Brain Development into Child Welfare Practice with Older Youth incorporates the latest research to combine the knowledge related to trauma, implicit bias, and building social capital and provides strategies on how to more effectively work with older youth who experience the child welfare system.

This thirteen-module training will describe the transition outcomes of older youth in foster care. Participants will be able to recognize how normal development is impacted in foster care placement and how this influences adolescent thinking and behavior. Trauma impacts brain development and can be long lasting, the training will identify strategies to support healing and growth in older youth.

This is Session 2. Session 2 will start to identify how the adolescent brain development influences adolescent thinking and behavior. Participants will begin to understand the effect of trauma on brain development and how it impacts adolescent learning. Trauma informed strategies to support healing and growth for youth will be shared.
